NEW: The Lovely Eggs | This Decision

Words | Aleksandra Brzezicka

The Lovely Eggs, Lancaster-based lo-fi post-punks, made industry’s periphery their fortress, escaping from the over-flooding wave of banal. Now, they’ve finally crawled out to the cruel world to shake it once more, with a brand new single, 'This Decision'.

In 2006, married power-couple, Holly Ross (from 90s riot grrrl Angelica) and David Blackwell (formerly of Three Dimensional Tanx) formed their DIY baby project, The Lovely Eggs. 13 years (and four albums) later, they still stand by their motto, striving for authenticity in the crap-fuelled industry. "This is our band. We do exactly what we like. That’s how it goes when you have your own band,’"they claim.

This Decision follows the heavier sounds of their last LP This is Eggland and foreshadows their up-coming album I am Moron, self-recorded and co-produced by Dave Fridmann (Tame Impala, The Flaming Lips, MGMT).

'This decision, this decision is alright’ Ross shouts at you in Big Brother-like outer space voice, over and over again so you start doubting your abilities for critical thinking. ‘I’ll take your wallet, it’s all fine’; ‘It’s all part of the design/It’s all part of the decline’ lyrics go on, deeper into a disaster, previewing bound to happen economic dictatorship.

This Decision is extracted Brexit confusion and straightforward attack on capitalistic consumerism. Loud and lousy in the best manner. Going hard on distortion and weird sci-fi effects, they ended up sounding like a psychedelic rocket on steroids. Whirring, buzzing and ready to launch. Get on for the glorious ride. It’s worth it.

The Lovely Eggs orbited into our galaxy to stir Britain's shitpot once again. It’ll be spicy.

This Decision is available on all major streaming platforms and The Lovely Eggs’ social media.
