Put your fancy sunglasses on, grab a towel, sunscreen and head to the beach. Never mind that the surfing season is not open yet, TUNDRA’s newest single, ‘Navy Red’, is the next best thing.
Elliott Rodger-Brown (drums/vocals), Elliot Booth (bass/vocals) and Caitilin Pegley (guitar/vocals) create music inspired by surfy-punk an ethereal breeze of Australian beaches. Having brightened up Bury St Edmunds' scene and the release of their EP 'Life’s Beach' last year, they dive right into English bittersweet spring with the new tune.
‘Navy Red’ is a satisfying combination of dirty grungy notes and the relentless beat of drums that breathes life into the whole mixture. Though the lyrics ‘complain about the weather’ couldn’t be more British, there’s surprisingly nothing to complain about as the sun shines right through the tune.
Fast-paced flow, boldly playful vocals and random bits of conversations blend into the cheerful melody. I’ve already caught myself humming. ‘We’re away with the stars,’ is a line that starts the song that takes us on the bumpy road of rhythmical ups and downs. Without leaving the room, we’ve wandered far along the coast chasing pretty surfers and setting suns.
