Railroads are a powerhouse of a band comprising of frontman Sam Da Silva, Adam Dunne on bass and Tom Senioron drums. Their debut single 'Skint As Possible' is an anthem for all of us who look into our wallets and are met with the sad change left from a maccies and the prospect of having to scrape together for one more night out.
Railroads are part of a scene thriving with young talent at the moment, expressing what being a young person really is.
Sam speaking on the track said “The song was written by me and was based on a night out I had with my mates. Half of the song is pure fiction; I’m not cool enough to be kicked out of clubs. However, the chorus came about when I looked in my wallet that night and saw that I had a shockingly low amount of money, mere pennies I think! I brought it to the band, Tommi, Adam and I just started playing loud. We sort of tried to add a bit of a punky flavour to the tune and that’s where the song was born!"
For a debut single this is a band that isn’t playing games, opening up with a blocked out chord progression before Sam begins to divulge his struggle of being, of course, 'Skint As Possible'.
This song is catchy with punk influences, indie melodies and a real drive carrying you through the next three minutes of your listening.
Railroads are a band that seem to have cherry-picked all their favourite parts of the music they love and somehow made it their own, adding their feel to the music that they make.
'Skint As Possible' really is a track that will get you out of your mid-week slump and have you ready for the weekend to come, so you can once again scrape all the pennies together and do it all again.
