If you can’t see the sun shining through the rainy clouds, PRIESTGATE will make you feel the summer in the air with their melancholically up-front, new single Summ(air).

Formed ‘in the heat and haze’ only a year ago, in East Yorkshire, a five-piece formation, PRIESTGATE has got on its account three singles, they’ve played under This Feeling brand and been featured on BBC Introducing. Inspired by acts as DIIV or The Cure, they’ve liquidated excitement of the late hot nights with sadness that comes from a realization of an inevitable end and poured right into their fuzzy ‘dream punk’ sound.

Summ(air) nonchalantly flirts with a cheeky/cheery intro to get us really into their grooving indie vibe, a mixture of surrealistically dreamy riffs with invigorating chanting-like drum beats. Unpretentious shoegaze style contrasted with punk-like sharp, occasionally word-spitting, vocals, work together exceptionally well.

It’s an ode to the past, beautiful in its rawness. A memory of the golden, sunny days that we’d recall with the realization that even though it was not perfect, we loved it anyway, as the lyrics go ‘how I miss you, the things you put me through.’ It’s an honest confession of affection, followed by the promise – ‘nevermind I’ll see you soon.’

Summ(air) gives us hope that the past can be repeated or even fixed, especially during those magical warm evenings when we open our hearts wide, listening to the dreamy pop, staring at each other.

The track has been recorded at Sugarhouse Studio and released online on July 19th.
