New | Burp and Vomit - Bubblegum Hypnosis

30/4/20

Words | Aleksandra Brzezicka - @_brzezicka

During wicked times, there’s always an extra need for some disastrous distraction. Luckily, Bubblegum Hypnosis, got you covered with their new single, ‘Burp and Vomit’. After releasing, Babe Rainbow-like EP, Cosmic Stream, sick of their fizzy-whizzy dreaminess, they’re taking a leap from the Wonderland into the Wasteland. To burp and vomit.

Bubblegum Hypnosis have been drifting around psychedelia for long enough to collect and pin down bits of bops that they admire. Consequently, their magnetic musical patchwork is a strangely satisfying one. Think Zappa tripping with King Gizzard during Summer of Love. ‘Burp and Vomit’ is just like that, only a head-banging level heavier and distortion driven. There’s no point overanalysing it. It’s one of those that you need to take as it is. Let it swallow you whole to the point where you’re starting, to the disgust of your friends, to chant aloud the titular words.

Bubblegum Hypnosis have created an impenetrable wall of devilishly distorted vocals, riding on the psychedelic wave, leaden by a shredding guitar solo that must be demolishing while played live. The track is a side effect of taking in too much of the current state of the world. You just have to get it out of your system.

Their newest single is Bubblegum Hypnosis at their most experimental, hanging onto a heavier load and blasting the shit out of it. It won’t give you nausea but it’s sick.

‘Burp and Vomit’ is out on May 1 on Bubblegum Hypnosis’ social media and major streaming platforms.
