Factory Girls are back with their much anticipated debut single 'Never Seen a Ghost'. It's melodic, grounded and accented with a healthy dose of synth. After a run of dynamic, well received live shows and a collaboration with Earwig Records, Factory Girls are a band on the rise.

The future of the Factory looks bright and we can't wait to see what comes off the production line next. Factory Girls are Noah Hopley-Jones, Will Astill, James Parker and Joe Barton. Here's what went down when we had a chat with a very hyper Factory Girls, just before they supported Egyptian Blue and Sinead O'Brien during IVW.

You're a fairly new band that's rising through the scene at the moment, how do you feel about your local scene and it's venues?

"We really love Duffy's it's our home ground, we like playing the Firebug as well, people just have to keep f***ing coming to gigs and support the scene. independent venues are hugely important, they're vital. We've only ever been put on in independent venues and they're the places where bands that aren't supported by 'big corporations' get love. Where else are you supposed to start off and play without them? "

What's going on in the world of Factory Girls right now?

"We've recorded some singles and they'll be coming out, we've got stuff coming out the Factory. We're playing the musician in April for Wake Up promotions, check the Facebook and the Instagram, big up Paul. "

What are you all listening to at the moment either as a band or individually?

James : I've been doing lot of revising lately, it's been a lot of Brian Eno.

Joe : For the last two days I've been listening to a lot of Egyptian Blue and Sinead O'Brien. Also Squid.

Noah: Yeah, I've also been listening to the new Stormzy album, got that for chrimbo. It's really good.

James : I've actually also been listening to 100 Gecs.

Will : I've been listening to a lot of Lemonheads for a while now, they're bit mental.

Noah: Actually you know Lily Allen is actually really good? High Vis as well, I found out about them the other day, they're good. Choose to lose is a banger.

Speaking on the new single frontman Hopley-Jones says:

"Never Seen a Ghost, is a song we all deeply care about. It took nearly year to write with sections being added and refined as we developed it, even with synth being added by Lance (producer) at the very end of the process, who did a brilliant job with it. When I first wrote the riff in the chorus I could barley sing over it with the timing being a bit weird, which was frustrating cause it was so bloody moody and I wanted to sing some drab lyrics about ghosts and spooky shit over it, but over time I figured that out. "

Continuing with:

"With the rest of Factory Girl’s we worked on a lot of different ideas for it but the groove was found with Joe’s fab baseline which opens and closes the song, and reverberated by Will’s atmospheric guitar and James tight as f**k drums. Cause of the time we put into the song, I think we’re all a bit invested in it and when we recorded it, it felt like we had really captured the song. So super Im excited to release this 6 minute BEAST onto the public, please support it and come down to see us play in Leicester. Big thanks to Andy Askey, Earwig Records, Lance, Greta for writing these amazing articles and Eddie Lovell who did the amazing art (@eddierl_ seriously check her Instagram out) who is a long time friend and associate of the Factory Girls."

What's your closing statement? Give us fresh and exciting.
