Hailing from the paved streets of Kings Lynn, with all the fuzz of your favorite beer drenched velvet jacket, are Eluders.
Consisting of frontman Finlay Heighton-Jupp and drummer Brianna Burge the band are at the forefront of their local music scene, with their debut EP 'Sister' guaranteed to make waves this summer as well as their scheduled performance supporting Deaf Havana at their homecoming show, at the Kings Lynn Corn Exchange.
Opening track 'Outcry' is a short, loud and snappy introduction to 'Sister', with frontman Fin delivering vocals spat like venom as drummer Brianna drives the track into the ground full force. "what do you live for?" shouts Heighton-Jupp as a cacophony of anger and fuzz fills the track with a sense of urgency, a need to be listened to.
'Favours' is loud, it's aggressive proving that Eluders are not a band that hides behind over synthesized melodies and sickly sweet chord progressions.
'Favours' is a track that demonstrates the change in dynamic for the band, it's a refined chaos that has developed and progressed since earlier releases from the band, with definite hints of of their influences such as, Strange Bones and Blinders both lyrically and musically.
It's a track that demands responses from authoritative positions. The band have arrogated themselves the right to demand the answers we all want and need.
To follow, 'FC' is a stand out track on the EP, politically fulled and boiling over with an apoplectic rage .
"If I had a penny every time i was told, to take what you can and get rich when your old, i could pay of my uni degree."only one line in a song that questions the future for the youth and the sustainability of our lives as they are left in the hands of others. With vocal lines that are enraged and filled with a kind of sharp anguish.
'FC' is not only an angry 'punk' song, it is antagonism and concern articulately put.
Closing track 'Antibiotic' is slightly softer than its counterpart introductory track, 'Outcry' allowing the EP to demonstrate a variety of sound, making it not just another loud EP amidst other bands within their scene both locally and nationally. Closing the EP in a swirl of engulfing collateral damage and vigour.
When speaking on the EP the band said:
"The overall EP is really quite angry and aggressive, but the lyrics convey some of the serious issues in the world at the minute - majority corporations turning a blind eye, minorities not having their voices heard, - to name just a couple. we’re proper proud of the overall sound, many thanks to Tom Joy for creating this absolute masterpiece."
continuing with,
"A lot of our sound is heavily inspired by upcoming artists like The Blinders, Idles and Strange Bones - all of which we recommend. This EP is a much better reflection of our sound and direction at the moment and we feel like we’ve sorta found our sound with this project. Although there’s a couple older songs on here that we’re buzzing for people to hear, Outcry and Antibiotic, the newer ones are really exciting for us and we can’t wait for people to hear the EP as a whole. "
'Sister' is an EP with an urgency to be listened to, demanding attention with every note, an outcry. This is only the start of an angst ridden journey, make sure you stay tuned for the ride.
'Sister' the debut EP from Eluders is set for release on Monday the 1st July 2019.
